Exploring the Verdant Region

Players control a young creature trainer navigating a region that spans dense forests, dark caves, and coastal areas. Each environment has its own visual theme and creature population, so venturing off the main path often leads to rare species or useful items. Wild creatures appear in tall grass, cave interiors, and on water surfaces, making exploration a core part of progression rather than just a backdrop.

Capturing and Training Creatures

The region supports over 300 creature species, each with distinct appearances and abilities. Teams can hold up to six creatures, and type interactions follow a rock-paper-scissors effectiveness system. To add a creature, players weaken it in battle and then use a capture device. Battles award experience, letting creatures learn new moves and evolve into stronger forms. A balanced team covering multiple types is essential for tougher opponents.

Turn-Based Battles and Gym Challenges

Combat is turn-based, with players choosing between moves, switching creatures, or using items during encounters. This decision-making matters most against gym leaders, rival trainers, and two antagonistic groups that appear throughout the region to block progress or steal creatures. The main objective is to collect badges from local gyms, defeat an elite league, and become the region champion.

Controls and Interface

Keyboard controls mirror the original handheld layout: arrow keys move the character, Z confirms, X cancels, Enter opens the start menu, and Backspace acts as select. Shift and Ctrl serve as L and R buttons. The interface displays health, experience, and item information clearly during both battles and exploration, keeping the focus on strategic choices rather than menu navigation.
